Nova Nomad LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the NomadDesk application (the "App") for iOS and macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use NomadDesk.

 

 

1. Information We Collect

 

1.1 Data You Create

 

NomadDesk stores only the data you create within the App. This includes:

 

• Client information — name, email, phone number, physical and billing addresses, hourly rates, and tax rates

• Projects — name, status, budget, start dates, and deadlines

• Tasks — title, description, status, due date, and estimated duration

• Time logs — start/end times, duration, billable status, and work descriptions

• Invoices — date, amount, payment status, invoice number, and line items

• Notes — freeform text associated with clients, projects, or tasks

• Attachments — files you attach to records (stored on-device)

• Business profile — your name, business name, email, phone, address, and profile photo

• Email templates — custom invoice email templates you create

 

1.2 Data Generated Automatically

 

The App generates a small amount of operational data to function properly:

 

• Install date — stored locally to manage the free trial period

• Device identifier — a randomly generated identifier stored in the device Keychain, used solely for iCloud sync conflict resolution. This identifier is not linked to your Apple ID or any advertising identifier.

• Backup encryption key — a locally generated key stored in the device Keychain, used to encrypt data backups

 

1.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

 

• We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics

• We do not use any third-party analytics services (no Firebase, Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)

• We do not use advertising identifiers or tracking frameworks

• We do not serve advertisements

• We do not collect device hardware information, IP addresses, or location data

• We do not create user accounts or require sign-in

 

The App's privacy manifest declares NSPrivacyTracking = false.

 

 

2. How Your Data Is Stored

 

2.1 On-Device Storage

 

All data you create in NomadDesk is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. The App functions fully offline; no internet connection is required for core functionality.

 

2.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)

 

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, NomadDesk uses Apple CloudKit to sync your data across your devices via your private iCloud database. This sync is:

 

• Private — only you can access your data through your Apple ID

• Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple

• Managed by Apple — we do not have access to your iCloud data

• Optional — the App works fully offline if iCloud is unavailable or disabled

 

We do not operate any servers, APIs, or cloud infrastructure. All sync is handled entirely by Apple's CloudKit service.

 

2.3 App Group Data (Widget)

 

The NomadDesk widget uses a shared App Group container to display summary statistics (total clients, active projects, pending tasks, open invoices). Only aggregate counts are shared with the widget — no individual records or personal details.

 

2.4 Keychain

 

The App stores two values in the device Keychain:

 

• A randomly generated device identifier (for sync conflict resolution)

• A backup encryption key (for securing data exports)

 

Both are stored with kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly protection and are not transferred to other devices.

 

 

3. Third-Party Services

 

NomadDesk uses only first-party Apple platform services:

 

• Apple CloudKit — Data sync across your devices. Your app data is stored in your private iCloud database.

• Apple StoreKit — Subscription management. Transaction data is managed entirely by Apple.

• Apple EventKit — Calendar and Reminders integration. Event and reminder data you choose to create.

• Apple Contacts — Client contact import. Contact data you select for import.

 

We do not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or external APIs.

 

 

4. Device Permissions

 

NomadDesk requests the following permissions only when the related feature is used. You may deny any permission and continue using the App's core features.

 

• Contacts — Import client details from your address book

• Calendar (Full Access) — Create and manage calendar events for project milestones, deadlines, and time blocks

• Reminders (Full Access) — Create reminders for upcoming task deadlines and billable hours alerts

• Photo Library — Select a profile photo for your business identity

• Camera — Capture a profile photo

• Face ID / Touch ID — Authenticate access to Data Tools (data export, backup restore, and data rescue)

• Notifications — Deliver local trial reminders (if permitted during onboarding)

 

 

5. Data Retention and Deletion

 

• Your control: You can delete any client, project, task, time log, invoice, note, or attachment at any time within the App.

• Soft delete: Deleted items are marked as deleted and removed from view. They are cleaned up during normal sync operations.

• Hard reset: The App provides a "Reset Local Data" option that deletes all local data and re-downloads from iCloud.

 

We do not retain any data on our own servers because we do not operate any servers.

 

 

6. Data Security

 

• All on-device data is protected by Apple's platform security (device encryption, app sandboxing)

• Data in transit to iCloud is encrypted using Apple's standard TLS encryption

• Data at rest in iCloud is encrypted by Apple

• Sensitive operations (data export, backup restore) require biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) or device passcode

• Backup files are encrypted using a locally generated key stored in the device Keychain

• The macOS version runs in Apple's App Sandbox

 

 

7. Children's Privacy

 

NomadDesk is a business productivity tool designed for adults (freelancers and solo developers). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App does not contain features designed for or directed at children.

 

 

8. Accessibility

 

NomadDesk is designed to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Our accessibility features include:

 

VoiceOver Support — The App includes comprehensive VoiceOver support with descriptive labels, hints, and dynamic values across all major features — invoices, reports, time tracking, client management, calendar, settings, and sync diagnostics. Interactive elements include accessibility hints that describe their actions, and complex visual elements are grouped with combined accessibility elements for clear, logical navigation.

 

Reduce Motion — Animations and transitions throughout the App respect the system Reduce Motion setting. When Reduce Motion is enabled, animations are replaced with simple opacity transitions or removed entirely to provide a comfortable experience for users sensitive to motion.

 

Dynamic Type — The App uses Apple's semantic font system (body, headline, caption, footnote, title) throughout, allowing text to scale with your preferred system text size. Fixed text sizing is used only in PDF invoice generation to ensure consistent print output.

 

Haptic Feedback — The App provides tactile haptic feedback for interactions such as calendar event manipulation and task management, supporting both iOS and macOS haptic hardware.

 

Keyboard Navigation — Full keyboard navigation support is available, including focus management in multi-field forms, semantic keyboard types (decimal pad, email, phone), and keyboard shortcuts for common actions.

 

Empty States — All list and report views display descriptive empty-state messages with icons when no data is available, ensuring screen reader users understand the current state of each view.

 

High Contrast and Color — The App uses Apple's semantic color system (primary, secondary) to ensure proper contrast in both Light and Dark modes. Status indicators that use color also include text labels, so information is never conveyed by color alone.

 

Platform Accessibility — On macOS, the App runs natively with full support for macOS accessibility features including VoiceOver, Keyboard Navigation, and system-level accessibility preferences.

 

 

9. International Users

 

NomadDesk uses locale-aware formatting for currencies, dates, and numbers. All data processing occurs on your device and through Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

 

 

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
